{"id":3681,"date":"2013-04-19T09:19:09","date_gmt":"2013-04-19T08:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.solucominsight.fr\/?p=3681"},"modified":"2015-01-21T09:54:23","modified_gmt":"2015-01-21T08:54:23","slug":"le-cloud-computing-avenir-du-green-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.riskinsight-wavestone.com\/en\/2013\/04\/le-cloud-computing-avenir-du-green-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Le cloud computing : avenir du green IT ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Les centres de traitement et de stockage de donn\u00e9es sont de tr\u00e8s grands consommateurs d\u2019\u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrique, qu\u2019ils transforment en \u00e9nergie IT, autrement dit en services informatiques mis \u00e0 disposition de leurs clients. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>L\u2019efficience de cette transformation, et donc par extension la sobri\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique des datacenters est, depuis quelques ann\u00e9es d\u00e9j\u00e0, un enjeu majeur, pla\u00e7ant le \u00a0green datacenter sur la plus haute marche de maturit\u00e9 du green IT aujourd\u2019hui.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Green <em>datacenter<\/em>\u00a0: le r\u00e8gne sans partage du PUE serait-il arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00e9ch\u00e9ance\u00a0?<\/h2>\n<p>Le PUE ou <em>Power Usage Effectiveness<\/em> est le principal indicateur utilis\u00e9 pour mesurer le rendement \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique d\u2019un <em>datacenter<\/em> en effectuant le rapport entre la consommation \u00e9lectrique totale et la consommation des \u00e9quipements informatiques.<\/p>\n<p>Son utilisation s\u2019est largement r\u00e9pandue, amplifi\u00e9e par des objectifs de marketing et de communication, ce qui a permis de mettre l\u2019industrie du <em>datacenter<\/em> sur la voie de l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique. Cependant, il pr\u00e9sente encore plusieurs limites\u00a0:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Il se concentre sur l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique mais n\u00e9glige d\u2019autres aspects qui entrent dans l\u2019\u00e9valuation d\u2019un <em>green datacenter<\/em> comme les \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>Il reste souvent th\u00e9orique, son calcul se basant sur la charge maximale de l\u2019installation, ce qui est rarement le cas au lancement ou pendant les premi\u00e8res ann\u00e9es d\u2019exploitation de celle-ci\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>Enfin, lorsqu\u2019il est mesur\u00e9, il ne l\u2019est pas toujours de mani\u00e8re homog\u00e8ne (pas de distinctions en termes de disponibilit\u00e9 ou d\u2019emplacement g\u00e9ographique). Par cons\u00e9quent, un site offrant une tr\u00e8s haute disponibilit\u00e9 verra son PUE p\u00e9nalis\u00e9 par la redondance de ses \u00e9quipements techniques.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Le PUE n\u2019est donc aujourd\u2019hui plus suffisant pour \u00e9valuer l\u2019impact environnemental d\u2019un <em>datacenter<\/em> et l\u2019est encore moins pour comparer des <em>datacenters<\/em> sur ce crit\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<h2>Sur quels nouveaux indicateurs \u00e9valuer le <em>Green Datacenter\u00a0?<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Pour mesurer la durabilit\u00e9 d\u2019un <em>datacenter<\/em>, tout son impact environnemental doit \u00eatre pris en compte. Le consortium \u00ab <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thegreengrid.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Green Grid<\/em><\/a> \u00bb \u00e0 l\u2019origine du PUE, a ainsi valid\u00e9 la d\u00e9finition de trois nouveaux indicateurs pour mieux \u00e9valuer cet impact :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Le <em>Carbon Usage Effectiveness<\/em> (CUE) mesure les rejets de CO<sub>2<\/sub> associ\u00e9s \u00e0 un <em>datacenter<\/em>, permettant de prendre en compte son impact environnemental et pas seulement \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique (ex\u00a0: les rejets li\u00e9s aux tests de groupes \u00e9lectrog\u00e8nes diesel)\u00a0;<\/li>\n<li>Le <em>Green Energy Coefficient<\/em> (GEC) d\u00e9finit le pourcentage d\u2019\u00e9nergie renouvelable utilis\u00e9e par le <em>datacenter<\/em>. Il compl\u00e8te le PUE, en apportant des informations sur la fa\u00e7on dont l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 consomm\u00e9e est produite.<\/li>\n<li>Le <em>Energy Reuse Factor<\/em> (ERF), permet de mesurer la quantit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9nergie r\u00e9utilis\u00e9e \u00e0 la sortie d\u2019un <em>datacenter<\/em>, qui peut prendre plusieurs formes, comme la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energystream-solucom.fr\/2012\/11\/data-center-un-nouveau-mode-de-chauffage\/\" target=\"_blank\">r\u00e9utilisation de la chaleur d\u00e9gag\u00e9e<\/a> par exemple. Cette \u00e9nergie \u00e9tait parfois abusivement int\u00e9gr\u00e9e dans la mesure du PUE, donnant des r\u00e9sultats incoh\u00e9rents (PUE&lt;1).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>L\u2019ambition derri\u00e8re l\u2019adh\u00e9sion de la communaut\u00e9 autour de ces indicateurs est d\u2019encourager leur adoption pour faire de l&#8217;efficacit\u00e9 environnementale un composant central de la d\u00e9finition du <em>datacenter<\/em> de demain.<\/p>\n<h2>Et si le futur des <em>datacenters<\/em> \u00e9tait le <em>green cloud<\/em>\u00a0?<\/h2>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9nergie IT produite par les datacenters est de plus en plus consomm\u00e9e en mode <em>cloud<\/em> pour s\u2019adapter aux demandes des utilisateurs de services disponibles 24h sur 24, partout dans le monde.<\/p>\n<p>Cela repr\u00e9sente aussi un avantage d\u2019un point de vue \u00e9cologique. En effet, les indicateurs d\u00e9crits permettent de mesurer et donc d\u2019am\u00e9liorer unitairement l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 d\u2019un <em>datacenter<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Avec les op\u00e9rateurs <em>cloud <\/em>globaux<em>,<\/em> les <em>datacenters<\/em> sont mutualis\u00e9s. En utilisant des \u00e9quipements et des logiciels adapt\u00e9s, il est donc possible de rationaliser et r\u00e9partir plus efficacement les ressources \u00e0 une nouvelle \u00e9chelle pour produire ces services au meilleur co\u00fbt, y compris environnemental. \u00c0 titre d\u2019exemple, Google estime qu\u2019une entreprise utilisant leurs solutions <a href=\"http:\/\/googleenterprisefrance.blogspot.fr\/2012\/09\/cloud-computing-et-economies-denergie.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Cloud Google Apps<\/em> r\u00e9aliserait une \u00e9conomie<\/a> de l\u2019ordre de 65% \u00e0 85% d\u2019\u00e9nergie par rapport \u00e0 la fourniture en propre de services \u00e9quivalents.<\/p>\n<p>Dans une situation \u00e9conomique qui reste difficile, le <em>Cloud<\/em> computing peut repr\u00e9senter une r\u00e9ponse cr\u00e9dible \u00e0 la fois aux enjeux de d\u00e9veloppement et aux enjeux de responsabilit\u00e9 environnementale des entreprises, \u00e0 condition de r\u00e9ussir son int\u00e9gration dans leurs \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes IT.<\/p>\n<p>Pour en savoir plus sur le <a href=\"http:\/\/www.solucominsight.fr\/category\/dossiers\/cloud-computing\/\" target=\"_blank\">cloud computing<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Les centres de traitement et de stockage de donn\u00e9es sont de tr\u00e8s grands consommateurs d\u2019\u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrique, qu\u2019ils transforment en \u00e9nergie IT, autrement dit en services informatiques mis \u00e0 disposition de leurs clients.
